Wild, beautiful and generous

There’s a special place in Sweden, where a thin tongue of land breaks the dark waves of the Öresund Strait. Even the names of the villages here sound special: Håkull, Skäret, Rekekroken, Himmelstorp, Lerhamn, Kullagård.

For many people, it’s a place of pilgrimage. Where else is nature so generous? Where else do tall crags tower beside fairytale forests and bathing coves that are the envy of many an Italian visitor. And then there is all that the fertile soils offer… and the animals… and the seasons…

Artists have been captivated by the light here where the seas meet. Cafés and hotels have welcomed both ramblers and royal guests. Men and women were bathing together in the waves here when people elsewhere hardly dared dream of such impropriety. And the local fragrances and flavours have pleased even the most discerning palates.

What makes a place so cherished? Its wildness? Its beauty? Or maybe simply its generosity?
